In 2023, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Committee brings together 40 Geiq covering almost every economic sector: construction, industry, transport and logistics, health and social care, mountain trades and tourism, sport and leisure, culture and entertainment, green spaces and digital, catering, and more.
As recruitment becomes ever harder because of the arduous nature of certain trades, changing expectations about how work is organised, and social and environmental concerns, the world of work is changing. Adapting to this shift is becoming vital in order to remain competitive and attractive.
The GEIQ were born some twenty years ago from a government initiative aimed at reviving vocations in hard-to-fill trades. One of the missions of the AuRA Geiq Regional Committee is to contribute to local employment but also to encourage good practice. It therefore provides resources to the directors of local Geiq to support them as best it can in their societal mission.
It is in this context, and to help them meet the new sustainability challenges in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, that the Regional Committee, in partnership with the DREETS AURA, offered its directors a training course on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The aim: to better understand the sustainable approach and the “win-win” mechanics of CSR (as opposed to win-lose). CSR would also help to showcase the work of the Geiq. Through this training, the Geiq directors were able to identify and list their contributions to society, but also the room for improvement to satisfy their professional circle even further.
As employer groups committed to helping people far from the labour market into work, the Geiq undeniably have a social and economic impact. But an effective CSR approach cannot be limited to these two aspects.
The environmental dimension is a fundamental pillar, yet it remains harder to grasp in fields such as industry, construction or transport. The outside perspective of their members (clients), employees, partners and service providers was therefore essential to get the GEIQ to think about their practices differently.
To encourage the Geiq of the AURA region to rethink their approach as part of a European dynamic, the DREETS (Ministry of Labour) called on Rate A Company, experts in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to support them in this process of continuous improvement with their stakeholders.
Following this training, some Geiq wanted to go further and have their practices audited in order to obtain the CSR label: a score awarded by stakeholders.

The Geiq Regional Committee welcomed the CSR approach involving all stakeholders and encouraged the Geiq of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to improve their practices in the collective interest using Rate A Company’s methodology.
